TIME TO EXPLORE / TIME TO CREATE / TIME TO IMAGINE

Welcome to Lollipop!
At Lollipop Cooperative Preschool, we know what it takes to enhance our students’ education. Our unique approach to learning and top quality faculty makes Lollipop Cooperative Preschool more than just a campus. It’s a life experience. Find out what sets us apart. We invite you to explore our dynamic and diverse community, and stop by the school for a visit at your convenience.

Our Philosophy
As a Co-Op parent you are an active participant in your child's first school experience both educationally and socially. A Co-Op offers a unique opportunity to be part of your child's classroom experience while developing individual relationships with other children and their families. Being owned and operated by member parents our school offers benefits to parents and children alike. Children benefit from the low ratio of adults to students with parents working in the classroom alongside the teacher on a rotating basis (usually 1-2 days per month) and voluntarily completing other tasks required to keep our school operating with very affordable tuition.
Joining a community of parents that places a high value on the involvement in the education and development of their children and the observation of your child in the school-social setting are invaluable benefits of a co-op experience.
Parents requirements also include helping with two family events per year. These include activities and fundraisers like our Chili Cook Off, Cookies with Santa or Talent Show. Families also help with one school cleaning per year. As a non-profit preschool, we rely on fundraising to help offset many of the school costs. Families are asked to raise $175 per year for the school. This can be added to tuition or raised at one of our many family fundraising events like our Silent Auctions held at our Chili Cookoff and Cookies with Santa events.
Lollipop Cooperative Preschool provides an integrated course schedule of learning through exploration, scrutiny, and self-reflection. In every class, our teachers emphasize the strategies and processes involved in learning and self-growth, creating a unique opportunity to prepare our students to live intelligent, thoughtful, and fulfilling lives in a rapidly changing society. Please see our current course offerings below.

3 Year Old Preschool
An Exceptional Learning Experience
The three year preschool class offers young children the opportunity to learn to separate from parents, to practice sitting, listening and following directions in a school environment, and to start to become familiar with a classroom routine. They will be able to practice choosing activities independently, learn to relate to other adults and how to function in both small and large groups. Small group activities focus on colors, shapes, letters, numbers and more. Social skills are emphasized daily. 4 Year Old Preschool
Dive Right In
The four year preschool class is a play-based program which also includes more structured learning experiences, in both small and large group formats. The program is based on a developmentally appropriate curriculum which includes various types of activities and materials which will help develop early readiness skills for kindergarten and beyond. Activities are planned with all types of learners in mind, including visual, kinesthetic, auditory, and spatial (etc.) learning styles. We provide plenty of learning opportunities that focus on math, language, reading readiness, science, and social studies. Lollipop uses the multi-sensory language arts program Zoo Phonics to learn letter sounds and names. We also incorporate materials from the "Learning Without Tears" writing program. Again, our program balances these structured activities with ample opportunities for play and creative exploration!

Brooke Lamb
Teacher and Education Director
Brooke Lamb is the Lead teacher of the 3 and 4 year old program at Lollipop. Brooke has over six years of child development experience. Prior to joining Lollipop, Brooke was a behavioral therapist for children on the autism spectrum. She has completed various child development courses from several accredited universities and state-certified trainers. Brooke earned an AA degree in human services and is expecting completion of a BA from Eastern Michigan University. She truly enjoys helping children learn and believes that early childhood is a magical, important time in life! She’s devoted to creating engaging, developmentally appropriate programs for young children. In her free time, Brooke enjoys cooking, being outdoors, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. She is an animal lover and has two energetic cats.
Pamela Peat
Assistant Teacher
Ms. Pamela is currently the assistant teacher for the 3ʼs and 4ʼs preschool program. This is her second year in preschool education and her first with Lollipop. She brings a creative spirit to the classroom and a love of all things art! She believes children gain many skills while integrating art into the classroom: problem solving, thinking outside of the box and enjoying the process of creating.
She supports the parent-teacher relationship and has found that her experiences in parent organizations while her children were younger were invaluable to their educational success. She is married to Tim and they have two grown sons. She enjoys any and all home projects, keeping healthy, exercising, reading and spending time with the family dog. She has an A.D. in Business/Interior Art Design.

Building Our Community And Fundraising
Committed to Excellence
As a Co-op we work to develop strong relationships in our preschool family both inside and outside the classroom.
As an affordable preschool option we rely on fundraising as part of our fiscal planning. Each child has an annual fundraising requirement of $175, with additional children $75 per child. Please join us for any of these fantastic family- friendly events to support our school.
Each year we hold fundraising nights such as our Chili Cook Off, Cookies with Santa, and Student Talent Show. We also host fun free family nights such as our "Cannes Film Festival" Drive-in Movie, Easter Egg Hunt, VIP Night, and numerous field trips to local orchards, nature centers, and events. These activities are a great way to be part of the preschool community, get to know other families, and spend time with your child.

Activities

Classroom Instruction
We use the multi sensory language arts program Zoo Phonics to learn letter sounds and names in an active, developmentally appropriate approach. We also use materials from Learning Without Tears to learn crayon and pencil grip and beginning letter formation among other skills.

Leader of the Day
Each day, one student is chosen to be the "Leader of the Day." They help Ms. Brooke lead the class in the morning routine, choose the Song of the Day and more!

Learn to Lunch
Each Monday, the four year old class brings a lunch from home so they can practice eating in a group, opening their own packages, and making independent choices that will help prepare them to eat lunch daily in kindergarten.

Learning through Play
Throughout the year we have an area of our classroom dedicated to learning community skills through play. Favorite themes include Pizza Parlor, Vet Clinic, Grocery Store, Santa's Workshop, Pet Store, etc.

VIP Night
Each Spring, students invite a "Very Important Person" such as dad, a grandparent, neighbor or friend to attend preschool with them. They share with them all that they've learned throughout the year.

Community Visitors
Community visitors such as West Bloomfield Fire Department, Librarian, and a Pediatric dental hygienist come to our class to teach the students important skills to keep them safe and healthy.

Field Trips
There will be several field trips throughout the year including Erwin's Orchard, Howell Nature Center, Turtle Creek Farm, Cranbrook Institute of Science, and the Detroit Zoo.
We also plan family outing events such as Disney on Ice and Tiger's Games.

Holiday Celebrations
We celebrate Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day, and St. Patrick's day with fun activities, songs, and parties. We also have a wonderful Mother's Day brunch where we honor our moms for all they do for us.

Scientist of the Day
The 4 year old class take turns being the "Scientist of the Day." At home they research different experiments and then present their experiment to the class. Students record their observations in their science journals. What a fun way to practice speaking in front of a group!!
Alumni Say...
Lollipop Co-op has been a part of the community for over 40 years and we are proud of the impression we have left on our families. Here are some kind words from our alumni:
"I stumbled upon this hidden gem on google. I looked at several schools in the area and after spending the afternoon at Lollipop with my daughter I realized it was not only a great program, it was the best value. I was a little nervous about the co-op responsibilities being a working mom but as soon as I got use to the routine it was so much more enjoyable and rewarding than I had ever thought. Even as my work demand increased for a period of time, the families worked within my schedule, no questions asked. I am so thrilled with my choice especially when you consider the teacher, Jan Weston, who truly is the hidden gem inside the school. She has such a warm heart and deeply cares for each child. She has my 4 year old reading.
In addition and on a slightly more serious note, my daughter had to undergo major heart surgery our first year at Lollipop. I had never received such warmth and support from people I barely knew, even moms I had never met from other classes. Our Lollipop family was there, willing to cook meals, bring over baskets of goodies for my little one and offering emotional support. I did not know how to respond to or thank all of these people for helping me during such a difficult and trying time. I felt like I had the support of the entire school as a whole, it was an experience I never expected and am so thankful and grateful for. Lollipop is more than a school, it's an experience. We will miss it so much more than I ever expected I would." - Dina Karim
"Lollipop Co-op and its teachers are a God-send to our family. Our son, who has severe food allergies, has loved going to Lollipop for the past 3 consecutive years...and as parents, we feel he is safe in the classroom and in their hands Lollipop Co-op is very accommodating for concerned parents like us. Thank you Lollipop!" - Marcie McNally
"We love this school! We moved here from out of state and this school has made the transition much easier for my daughter. She usually has trouble separating from me but was very comfortable at this school after just a few days. Mrs. Weston and Ms. Dewey go above and beyond. We enjoy the activities that promote family involvement. My daughter is excited when she gets to bring home a book about the theme they have been working on and when she gets to be the leader of the day. As a speech therapist, I have been impressed with how well Mrs. Weston incorporates language skills into every activity. I have also observed her modeling for the class how produce sounds correctly. So, I would recommend Lollipop for any child whose articulation is delayed. I really cannot say enough good things about this school!"-Amanda Russell
